RUOK. Everyone has a threshold for mental health conditions. COVID-19 and its broad sweep impact is pushing everyone closer to their threshold and some over it, especially with anxiety. Anxiety disorders already are the most common mental health conditions in Australia and now they are getting an unwanted boost from COVID. If you are not OK, and anxious, see your GP and ask about evidence-based psychological treatment if yours is mild to moderate anxiety. Cognitive behaviour Therapy (CBT) is the recommended psychological treatment in most cases and has been the most rigorously evaluated. If, for whatever reason, seeing a psychologist is off the table, then online CBT (eCBT) has similar efficacy & effectiveness compared to face-to-face CBT. Some good examples of evidence-based eCBT programs for anxiety are ThisWayUp.org.au, MentalHealthOnline.org.au, MindSpot.org.au, MoodGYM.com.au. There are others. If you are anxious and not OK start a conversation.
